"What's Rattlin'?"was created in May 1996 as an extension of the Calyx website.
The name come of course from the song on RichardSinclair's 1994 album "R.S.V.P.". The lyrics (by Pip Pyle), provide ahumorous look at the Canterbury mythology, and ended with thefollowing lines:
One question we alldread,
"What's doing Mike Ratledge?"
I'm tired of questionslike
"What is he doing, Mike?"
"What's doing Robert Wyatt?"
"What's doing Kevin Ayers?"
"What's Rattling Mike Doodlage?"
So "What'sRattlin'?" answers these questions, andmany more.
WR started as a weekly newsletter service compiling upcoming gig/release info, concert reviews, and fan discussion on all things Canterbury. It ground to a halt in 2004, and has now been relaunched as a discussion group, also available as a daily e-mail digest.
To subscribe, just ask to be added to the list by sending an e-mail to: firstname.lastname@example.org
If you're interested in reading past discussions, or want to read WR online rather than receive it by e-mail, the list's homepage (including an archive of past messages) is at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/whatsrattlin
