  • HEART-
    BREAKER
    Words and Music
    by Pye Hastings

I fell from the right side into that dark
I did time with the Bullet Boys and I thought that really smart
Then you came to me with that smile on your face
The light's in your eyes and that sense of disgrace

Heartbreaker, I fell for you so
    Soul taker, now everybody knows
Nobody knew it quite as well
While with you was a heartache, without you is a hell

If I thought of anyone, I thought of myself
I stood crying with my fingers high, I didn't need nobody else
Then you took me down with a flash and a grin
Showed me what it's all about and threw me back on in

You can feel cold when you're getting old, you can feel tall when you're small
Would you think twice when a summer night's gonna run for you to call
If it hits you like a thunderbolt right between the eyes
You don't know what is happening, you just feel surprised

    CORNER OF ME EYE
    Words and Music
    by Geoff Richardson

Saw you at the corner of me eye on second day
Wondered what I'd done wrong but I stayed there anyway
Saw you in the classroom and I saw you in the street
Knew your name and knew your face and landed on me feet

    Oh, we was dancing!
    Oh, was romancing!
    Oh, we was dancing!
    Oh, couldn't chance it

You were going out with someone I called me best friend
Tried to look him in the eye, it's useless to pretend
Saw you in the classroom and I saw you in the street
Knew your name and knew your face and landed on me feet

    WATCHA GONNA TELL ME?
    Words and Music
    by David Sinclair

Watcha gonna tell me if you're not growing old?
Think about the love that's lost when I'm all alone
Give a little thought to all the times that we had
Can't you see what you're doing to me?
Don't you know it makes me really sad?

Watcha gonna tell me when the night fades away?
Where you gonna run to in the cold light of day?
Think about it now cause it might get you, you know
Seems to me if you wanna be free
Then I'll have to let your loving go

    PIANO PLAYER
Words by John Murphy, Music by David Sinclair

From a distant room came a lonely tune, hangs heavy in the air
Sounds of scene where often been of depression and despair
People laughing and joking, drinking and smoking, they are not aware
Of the guy or his song as the piano plays on, they don't really care

He's just paid to please them, he's a clown without a face
A sound to fill their silence, a soul that leaves no trace
Every happy song is drowned in, drowned in sorrow
Yet no one sees the tears in his eyes
His dreams are gone, no special song, no tomorrow
No chorus as his spirit slowly dies

In the hazy gloom of this living tomb, a stripper earns her pay
To lusty cheers and the drunken leers, the piano fades away
As she sheds her clothes in a vulgar pose, she strips him of all pride
Yet he plays on such a desperate song, feels a savage changing tide

    Won't someone help me?
I just want to play my song
If only you would only listen
I'd be so happy if you all would sing along
I'd have the things that I've been missing

But very soon came the final tune, no worry turned to song
Just an empty stool and a stagehand's call, his weakness was too strong
So twisted and high while starting to fly, he saw the changing tide
And he followed its will, until all was still, the piano player died

    MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME
    Words and Music
    by David Sinclair

Come in, everybody, just make yourself at home
You can dance all night, you can feel alright till tomorrow
Come in, anybody, just treat it as your own
There's a lot to say if you wanna stay till tomorrow

Take the daily strain from upon your brain
    And move around at ease
Give yourself a break from the same mistakes
Close the window now and breathe

Come on, take your shoes off, make yourself at home
Have a drink or two, it'll see you through till tomorrow

Come in, everybody, just make yourself at home
You can dance all night, you can feel alright till tomorrow
Laugh on, dance on, sing on, and join the company
Just forget the time, have some peace of mind

Come in anybody, in our hospitality
Then soon you'll see that tomorrow never comes

    GOLDEN MILE
    Words and Music
    by John Atkinson

My daddy played a blue guitar
    And dances roses Africa
    So so Picasso

    Cowboy cap, they slowly come
    Fucked all those movie stars
    So so Picasso

We're walking down the Golden Mile
    Honky-ponky Spanish style
    Where is Picasso ?

He says he's the only man around
But wait till you look into his eyes

    Chanson trouvée, chanson trouvée
S'il le pouvait, s'il le pouvait
    He'd have love

He says he's the only man who cares
But that's just because he's scared

    Crocodiles and gigolos
    And quietsome quasimodo
    So so Picasso

I like the joy and loneliness
And sex and sex and sex and sex uh
    So so Picasso

We're walking down the Golden Mile
    Honky-ponky Spanish style
    Where is Picasso ?

This is the only song around
Sounds like a fountain on the ground

He says he's the only man around
But wait till you look into his eyes

He says he's the only man who cares
    That's just because he's scared

    BRIGHT SHINY DAY
    Words and Music
    by Pye Hastings

After all, your day is done and the nighttime's calmed you
Till the dawn comes again and the sunlight warms you
There is a light in the fire, reflected in your eyes
So with the warmth of desire that comes out of the glow
Shining on your face above, making shadows on the wall
Baby I love, baby I love

No disgrace can cause a shadow to rest on your face
But Heaven knows where it comes and where it all goes
But there is a bright shiny day waiting to be called
If you've the will, there's a way to brighten up your life
Oh, silver lining calling me, keep my head above
Baby I love, baby I love

Don't cry, don't sigh, don't spend your life on the fall
Living alone with a sad face won't do no good, won't do no good at all, no good at all
Someday, some way, somebody'll open your eyes
Then you'll be like a sunshine, when the morning comes and your be no surprise

Feel the glow, reaching out in through my window
For when you smile, it touches me somewhere deep down inside
Oh, you are a bright shiny day come to take me back
I got a will, you're the way, you brighten up my life
When you smile, you call to me with a message from above
Baby I love, baby I love

    CLEAR BLUE SKY
    Words and Music
    by Geoff Richardson

    Clear blue sky
    Like a angel's eye
    That clear blue sky
It makes me sigh - sigh

When I think of all my daydreams
When I think of all my fears
    All my fears

    Just as pure as glue
    Like an angel's eye
    When I come too
Beneath that clear blue sky - sky

    KEEPIN' UP DE FENCES
    Words and Music
    by Pye Hastings

Standing in the hall, waiting for a call, trying to keep a smile on my face
Fell out of a dream that nearly had me screaming, now I'm all over the place
And I was calling everywhere, but I could get no answer
There isn't anybody here, there's no answer

Running in the night, trying to get it right, couldn't get it out of my head
Everywhere it seemed, I was followed by a dream, a voice that was clearly said
"You won't escape from me tonight, you know I've got your number
You are the next in line my friend, I've your number !"

Gotta stay awake when night falls
Gotta find a way to fight boy
Gotta keep a line of decencies
    Gotta keep up my defences

Started me a soul, a face by the dawn, it seemed to be calling me
Had a smaller glow and he said that he would show me a way that I could shake a flea
Didn't have a voice, didn't have a choice, and my head felt like dynamite
Any moment now it felt like it could blow to a thousand pieces in the night
Oh, God help me now, I need to find the answer
There isn't anybody here, there's no answer

Oh, God help me now, I'm keepin' out decencies
If you will only keep up my defences

    IT'S NEVER TOO LATE
    Words and Music
    by Pye Hastings

If you sail away on a heartache
You'll live a life full of lonely roads
Lost between the words of hate and sadness
But whichever way you see it now
    It's gonna get you anyhow
So why waste the time that you could lose ?

    Oh isn't it a pity, oh isn't it a crying shame ?
When you lose someone you love, you're nobody
You've gotta take it home before it breaks in two
Get it out before it gets to you
Heartache, such an awful mount of pain

You know it's never too late - it's never too late to learn
You gotta take it on, you gotta shake it all, you gotta move it
How do you know you're gonna get the best you can
If you don't try, you don't try hard to lose
You'll lose, you're losing, oh oh

We all go on the right line, if we don't get in before the close
We can help each other staying out in the cold
But you'll never know if you never try, if you wanna live or you wanna die
But to not know is an awful way to go

So take me into your arms, I'll give you my heart
Will you give me your charms ?
Shine on, shine on my day, shine on my life
    Shine on my heartache

Take my heart but don't you dare lose it
Or I'll come and get your body and soul
Take my heart but don't you dare lose it, oh no no
Take me through the night cause I want a thousand nights
With a love lying deep in my arms
No more excuses, no more excuses, no harm done
    Take me from this heartache
    Take me from this heartache...

If you sail away on a heartache
Don't forget about the lonely roads
And don't forget the words of hate and sadness
But whichever way you see it now
    It's gonna get you anyhow
So why waste the time that you could lose ?
